This year we moved the garden. We tilled up a new area near the edge of the lawn, close to the greenhouse. We put a fence around it to make sure nothing large could get in to destroy it. We planted 4 rows of potatoes, some herbs, tomatoes, peppers, carrots and beans. There are pumpkins outside of the garden, in a pile of manure. A lot of what was planted was started in the greenhouse. There are still several tomato plants in the greenhouse now, but there's no point in planting them in September. Unfortunately the only tomato plants that survived were the black ones. I was so looking forward to eating fresh cherry tomatoes. The soil definitely needs to be amended more next year. But the potatoes did very well.
I had a row of beans. Half yellow, half purple. I had a few good feeds off of this little row. (FYI, the purple ones turn green when cooked, I was super confused for a minute) And here they are in September, still flowering.
The sunflowers did well, the dahlias weren't as great this year. I got 4 carrots. Most of the herbs did really well this year, but I think I will plant them in the little flower garden next year, more room for the veggies. I got one sad, tiny pepper. And finally got to eat my first apple. I am feeling okay with the garden, though next year I'm sure will be even better. Now, I'm off to dry my herbs!
